Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) were established under the Older Americans Act (OAA) in 1973 to respond to the needs of Americans 60 and over in every local community. By providing a range of options that allow older adults to choose the home and community-based services and living arrangements that suit them best, AAAs make it possible for older adults to remain in their homes and communities as long as possible.
The Jefferson Area Board for Aging
(JABA), located in Charlottesville Virginia has been serving the needs of the aging community in the Thomas Jefferson Planning district (Charlottesville, Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson Counties) since 1975. JABA is one of the most innovative and successful aging organizations in the nation. Working with state and local government, educational institutions, private citizens, businesses, and other non-profit organizations, JABA has consistently risen to the challenge of its mission: adding dignity, comfort, security, independence, and fulfillment to the lives of older adults and their families.
In 2007, JABA established
My Home for Life™
(MHFL), which is a private-pay, subscription-based services program designed to help seniors live independently in their own homes. MHFL membership provides the security and peace of mind of knowing that any home based need will be taken care of in a timely manner, by a high quality, trusted vendor. By servicing MHFL members, it became apparent that certain products could be very helpful for older adults to remain in their homes. My Home for Life Store™ was created to provide high quality products at reasonable prices. Products on this site have been screened by the MHFL team and can be purchased with confidence.
